This thread's gone off the rails.

The word "dude", for one. Also a tendency to mimic patterns, inflections, and phrasing from south park when speaking. I feel as though south park and its' influence on 'woods is possibly worth further analysis and discussion in general.

Referring to a group of people as "dudes" is high Norwood.

However, the most Norwood phrase on the internet at the moment has to be "goes hard". When not pretending to be schoolyard bullies, Norwoods will use the phraseology of their favorite wholesome niggos.

“Dork” was popularized by Chapo Trap House.

I have heard a couple of very cringe late millennials use “my dude” and “my guy” to be very condescending to people. Not sure if this is common.

“Goes hard” might be bn slang but in the context Norwoods use it, the subtextual joke is they are mocking lower class young white men who proudly enjoy stuff like rap music, Halo, Eminem, Monster Energy, etc.

"Bud" is also one, goes with "dude". Conformity through peaceful submission. Can be done by redditized youths, spiritual norwood.

I think it would help to distinguish soy from norwood. Soy can be in youth, but it is youth broken into submission quickly, says schoolmarm toned words like "yikes" or "bud", as I've seen firsthand. Norwood is a slow burn that manifests fully by age 30, it is subtle and wasn't pointed out until recently.

Starting sentences with "I mean," is comorbid with thinning temples.

Perhaps "Please face the wall" & variations thereof when angered. Impotent soyrage.

One of my favorite things about you people is how you come up with "new" variations of what's essentially the same insult (NPC, Bugman, Norwood) every few years and act as if you've come up with this unprecedented breakthrough every single time

The NPC is just the unremarkable member of the hylic masses, someone who can be reprogrammed into accepting that we've always been at war with Eurasia in a heartbeat and this won't really register any more than a slight change in the weather.

Bugman and Norwood I consider essentially different from this. They're the defeated souls, rather than the soulless. I'd say the rough definitions you can use to tell them apart is that the Bug is a sharper human specimen who has been crushed down into spiritual irrelevance by consistent long-term pressure, now just a complacent servant of the hive. Maybe smarter and livelier than an NPC, he might chastise renegades, but never with any vigour or ingenuity. The last shred of humanity in them demands action, but it's totally sublimated to the machine that broke him.

Norwood is similar but maybe less integrated, a kind of free-range bugman. What the people who would have become bugmen are becoming now that the machine has fewer stable slots for its servants to be pacified with. These are guys who have a light inside them, maybe not quite bright sparks but they have potential, and despite the fact that the world gives them less reason to every single day they're still stuck in this slavish state of making any concession against and compromise with their nature necessary to keep in step with the normalfag combine. It's this spirit of grimacing out a smile as you "joke" that "racists don't care what race you are as long as you're racist". Torn between the light inside that's trying desperately to avoid being snuffed and the promise of peaceful oblivion if they'll just embrace the encroaching darkness. This is the norwood. He knows we can't trust the government to serve us, he listens to the edgy podcasts, but he'll still die before he risks offending anybody who's *in* with this social system that's killing us all. They're a disgusting character because they had the potential to see but not the will.

Using the word 'normal' as something to be proud of or aspire to is a norwood vocal tic.

I had a sudden thought re the wood's obsession with bullying, noteworthy that they always talk about the value of shoving nerds in lockers during school, but never simply fighting (a much more useful thing), sign of abjection and beholdenness.

References to bodily ejections like shit, piss, fart, cum are obviously Norwood. There is obviously *that* accusation you could level about the propensity toward coprological humour.

As Recent Friend pointed out earlier a distinction needs to be made between soy/etc. and Norwood, but additionally I think a distinction between generalized millennial vernacular vs specified (although the overlap is obviously important) is valuable, as Norwood is a specified type of millennial.

For example, I don't know when exactly it began but the millennial fixation of referring to instances as "a thing" such as "so that was a thing.." or "so I did a thing!".. I found this pathologic "Google" faggot babytalk revolting the first time I heard it, and it's distinctly millennial, however I wouldn't call it Norwood for the same reason I wouldn't call "you nerd" "yikes" "dude" etc. Norwood, as those are part of return-to-childhood soy culture (which was invented by Gen X and their obsession with genre fiction and toys) and because the desired effect of those affectations is to be seen as a folksy get-along (as Chud pointed out) compared to the adoption of (perceived) "cutting" nigger (bully) language.

I believe one of the defining characteristics of the Norwood is a kind of literary view of themselves as "at odds" with "society" (or some perceived amalgamation of society and or specific popular opinions). Logo (who I actually think is capable of being quite intelligent) is a model example of this, where he arbitrarily, and constantly, pivots, and reinvents himself to maintain his self-image as an outsider of what he considers to be the mainstream-underground. People like Logo and Kantbot were much more insightful in the past, when they desired to be contrarians of NiggerWorld, now due to the "split" they (correctly) see BAP as the cultural head of the mainstream-underground which they must oppose to be more outsider, except for them this takes the form of self domestication and becoming the "accepted" "contrarians" within the "dirt bag left".

This relates to the larger Africanization of RW Twitter becoming a woman's space, but I don't want to go too far off topic.
