Interested in questions of history and human pre-history, philosophy of the non-academic kind, life-spirit etc. I had an account here in the past but I guess it got deleted due to inactivity; I barely used it though. I wanted to join this site primarily because I've gotten the impression that there are some very smart and well-informed people here from whom I could learn a lot.

Hello there. What an interesting forum I discovered. I got a bunch of questions to rattle off:
a) what's the history of this forum?
b) is Amarna related to Ekhnaton's Tell el-Amarna?
c) what happened to Amarna1?
d) can it happen again?
e) how do you prevent a dysgenic immigration of low quality newfags? Right now it's a comfortable amount of standard deviations above average, but I can't imagine how it could last. Unless of course it remains a niche forever.
