Notice how Misato critics have so far failed to address any of my claims, or any serious criticism of their choices. Deep down they know the truth. A lot of people misunderstand Rei, assuming she's a complete blank slate. This is partially true, but the truth is more complex.
Rei is a product of ZOGworld, she is created by a subordinate of SEELE to fulfil a fundamentally selfish and gay need. She has no personality, no human qualities besides the classic womanly passive following of orders. However, she is fundamentally angelic (and Asuka equally material) so through contemplation awakens; realizing that she is being used as a tool by people of weaker wills. Finally, due to her love, she realizes that the true thing she must do to redeem her actions is to give herself entirely to another, who is Shinji. I do not plan on arguing against Asuka here, but know that Rei is not a Jewish choice.

I'd sell Asuka into slavery in Mauritania, I just find her insufferable. I knew some women like that, and I would be extremely cruel to them.
