Misapplication of Mental Illness
Information
#1
Probably one of the most relevant topics that underlies the meta of current cultural discourse. This seems to manifest in several different ways:

Misapplying Symptoms
Mistaking normal complex feelings for symptoms of a mental illness...common candidates include autism and gender dysphoria, to a lesser extent schizophrenia and synesthesia.

Misapplying Diagnosis
Mistaking normal, complex or uncomfortable expressions for expressions of a mental illness which the person diagnoses in another...common candidates include narcissism, gender dysphoria, homosexuality, sociopathy, autism, aspergers.

Misapplying Medications
Misuse of medications and other rememdies...usually this relates to the first two, but I include this also due to the tendency of people to medicate anyways without even having an identifiable mental problem.

Part of this is a desire to have to clear defined behavioral categories that explain why people act the way they do or explain their own behavior...coupled with the fact that we are forbidden from creating mental models like these due to libtardism. Since clinical diagnosis is still used as a weapon against the general populace, especially whenever one runs into those inconvient "complex feelings", everyone is familiar with the terms and it becomes a natural candidate for a shared language to describe human behavior. It goes without saying that this has created enormous problems and created a plethora of shortcomings that are now intrinsically wired into the worldview and speech of the average person. This results from both the authoritative nature of a diagnosis and confusion of the actual, real instances of the illness which are much more rare.

I don't think you could have made a broader OP with more we could potentially talk about. I have nothing to say immediately, but a lot I probably will in the future. Monitoring this thread.

That's how I felt when constructing the OP. This can go off in just about a thousand different directions. Ironically, it was born out of a relatively mundane and light hearted opinion I was thinking over again while cleaning...the mention of synesthesia is not accidental because I originally wanted to make a thread about people who claim to experience that as some sort of special mental characteristic, weighed against observations which imply a certain degree of this is part of the baseline human experience...then I realized that this tendency is actually really widespread, there seems to be a crisis of people being 'allowed' to claim any unique inner experiences or characteristics.

Frankly, there is a lot to be learned just watching people react to the notion of describing their own thinking, far moreso than what they describe in itself. One example of this is how pepple react to that "visualize an apple" thing...many claim to be unable to, but then you also get another class of person who almost sort of boasts about their potent ability to visualize an apple...it's fascinating.

Important thread. I will start by reminding everyone that psychiatry is essentially a massive con designed to sell medication prescriptions to insurance companies. As such, the doctors are incentivized to give as many diagnoses as possible.

For instance, autism, ADHD, etc. have such vague definitions of symptoms that almost all children could be diagnosed with multiple illnesses for objectively normal behavior. (Will post some quotes from a book I am reading on this subject)

Parents are used to popping pills all the time themselves and think nothing of it when a whitecoat says their child needs prescription meth. Especially if insurance will pay for it, which it always does. (America would be so much healthier if insurance was banned.)

Not to mention the pervasive nature of "therapy" today. Imagine paying money to visit a drug dealer and being told you need coke to fit in with society. Furthermore, all your TV shows and your "friends" encourage this practice. There's even a stigma around not doing this.

To an outsider's perspective, this is what we do. Madness!

The greatest danger in this field is also the most boring: Anxiety and anti-anxiety medication. It is vastly prescribed, and vastly addictive. Since it has become "normal", it now even lacks much of the social defenses that ward against heavy drug usage. Many weddings, funerals, and so on...you will see glass'd individuals, turning off their emotional response. Anxiety is related to many generative aspects of life. Turning it off turns them off too. See autismo-style lust that is common now-a-days.
Idea of proper coping methods is vaguely floated, so psychiatrists "feel" as if they are doing their best. Similar with anti-depressants. They cannot really "judge" so they cannot give any good advice without...stepping on the line of what is allowed. As time goes on, even a decent psychiatrist will get mutated into a drug-dispenser who copes with moral statements about this or that. Many turn to spirituality and this sort of thing. Others to pure rationalism. But they all find some God to help them cope with what is actually done.
Also, always must be mentioned. Doctors and lawyers are the epitome of that striver class. They way they are selected and educated ensures that it is the worst of man that makes up most of their ranks. Sadly, there are some exceptional ones in there too...Either by accident of birth, or belief in the ideal, or simple pragmatism.

Normal People Exist no Longer. Everyone(normies) suffers from Over-Socialization resulting in a Fixation on Identity and Personality.

Over-Socialization is a Result of Media consumption that has Progressively Blurred Lines Between Entertainment and Reality. The Nature of the Play was focused on Characters With Exaggerated Personality Traits making them Characters. These Trait are too Pure for Reality and Thus are Either Extremely Rare or only Exist within Works of Fiction.

Works of Fiction have been Getting Harder to Distinguish between Reality. Take Tv for Example, it’s an endless stream of Different stories made to look as Real as Possible, this is very different from reading a Novel or Watching a Play. There’s a reason tv shows used to have a disclaimer to not Imitate the Actions perceived on screen, They were Hired Professionals. With newer forms of Entertainment the line between Fiction and Reality Continuously gets Blurred Further. YouTube is next stage in progression with Let’s Players for Example(I’ve never personally watched them) who Take an Exaggerated Persona in the Videos. Many Children have Grown up Watching YouTubers like Pewdiepie and Tobuscus.(skipping effects of social media) Next in Progression we have TikTok, now everyone is an Entertainer. Everyone is a personality and can make their own Content. Maybe you’ve heard about those on TikTok Pretending to have Tourette and Autism, which to them are only Quirky Character Traits.

Now every one wants to be a Character, they act like they are Constantly Performing on a stage, to various degrees of course. Thus Identify has become Center of Social Interaction, you yourself must become a Character.

This need to Misdiagnose oneself Is Connected to Over-Socialization and Fixation on Identify. While Mis-Self-Medication and Doctors Wanting to Diagnosis Kids with ADHD is not.

They make a killing on these "loose" things such as depression, anxiety and so on and so forth. Most of those are just consequences of an uncalibrated suffering meter - a year of hard labor to the point of mindkilling, or a good "survival experience" in the wilderness fixes this via physical brain rewiring.

You can also achieve this faster with certain types of narcotics but we're years away from proper methods in that regard - when we establish the Keyed State I might do research on this with some spare libtards kept for such experiments.

The post-psychotherapy age has seen the mass-scale pathologization of normal human responses to a hugely dysfunctional society/culture. A SCIENTIFIC combination of medication regimen/"being who you really are"/venting to some random credentialed mediocrity is THE MOST SCIENTIFIC means of exorcism, and of course never seems to go anywhere outside of the categories of people prone to things like "hypnotism" (women). Saying this kind of thing will probably have people labeling you "edgelord", etc. but I fail to think of a substantive answer to it. What system said about modern Liberalism directly bears on this, obviously. "What, so you aren't a perfectly functional unit of America 2023?"

The phenomenon of people claiming to possess synesthesia, etc. was also mentioned. It's probably been overstated at this point, but there really exists a type of person today that collects diagnoses to wear like Girl Scout Badges. If their claimed niche "personality disorder" has any basis in reality it's probably just a manifestation of basic character flaws like narcissism and sociopathy.

The Joker is a womanly faggot because he passes the blame of his personality traits onto intrinsic "mental illness".

Are narcissism and sociopathy not related to post-psychotherapy age and personality disorder or not? Maybe use other words for basic character flaws.

I don't mean to employ those terms in the purely diagnostic sense like you might with pretend disorders like "Transgenderism", but they are real character traits.

They might be more likely to emerge nowadays.

I see, thanks for clarification

Apparently one can now receive an extension on tests such as the SAT and ACT if you have a doctor's note saying you have anxiety: https://neurohealthah.com/act-sat-extended-test-time/

It seems today that a doctor's note is the new magic wand - it turns a pit bull into an emotional support animal and a normal child into a diseased one suffering from ADHD. The new papal bull.

I got offered this kind of thing when I was a student, for being a neurotic wreck of several different kinds. I never used them. Also nobody could give me a straight answer when I asked questions like why one should accommodate anxiety but not a slower mind.

How long until black apes can start getting “racism caused anxiety/stress disorder” doctor notes that will allow them to completely skip all testing. I think this would be the natural conclusion based off the political prejudice of the people pushing this kind of stuff.

It's pretty much exactly where society's at already. Formalising it would make the effect less powerful, because there would actually have to be some accountability. Crime flourishes in areas of oversight.

I don’t think the possibility of political intent hidden behind applying mental illness has been brought up. Pushing trannyism upon children, categorizing racism as hate and hate as irrational leading to the conclusion that racism is a mental disorder, and et cetera.

Although this topic diverges from the misapplication topic, it centers psychology’s connection to leftism in current time. This is under the precept that psychology’s intent is to pathologize normal human behaviors into disorders under some kind of political mission.

An example of this by the left accusing the right of this is with faggots. Like when leftist screech about how homosexuality was categorized as a disorder to throw faggots in asylums.

The more obvious one is that for a long time it was a way to deny systemic social disorder. That's kind of  shifting now in that people attribute problems to social disorder rather than a magical notion of brain chemistry, but they misdirect and misdiagnose wilfully to get politically convenient results. White men are suffering from narcissism and impotency over loss of privilege. Niggers are suffering from systemic oppression, leading to stress and just rage.

I really think that psychology evolved only very recently. I was in high school seeing psychs around 2014 and there were no therapeutic notions raised in addressing my problems, which were obviously social and circumstantial. I hit a brick wall of mediocre and unhappy women telling me I have the bad genes that fill my brain with sad chemicals for no reason.

The radical shift to politically oriented therapy has done a lot of good on this front, guys just know now that therapy is bullshit because insane women never shut the fuck up about it. Also there's a far wider appreciation of the fact that "depression" is an extremely vague diagnosis that arguably means nothing more than pathologisation of normal feeling, that anti-depressants are likely quite dangerous, etc. When I was a teenager nobody was talking about this. I feel like I lived through the last years when this suppressive chemical approach was normal both in practice and mass consciousness. People were calling me selfish for not taking anti-depressants. My family were. They know now that it's no good, and just kind of skim over the fact they tried to put me on them.

This was where the politics of psychology were at until society really got weird with everything all at once with Trump. We went from our kind of cold 2000s political entente of just suppressing and denying that everything is steadily getting worse for everyone, to another hot state of political war in which everyone will acknowledge problems everywhere, but only directionally in order to further politicise more of the lives of more people.
