Modernity since 1750, & possibly even as modern as some time in the 19th century, has held certain fallacies sacrosanct: egalitarianism, the doctrine of progress, and the belief that in collective movements or changes, improved existence for many or most people will certainly ensue.

The belief, perverse as it may seem, since it ignores history completely, is that the inner life changed for the better in places like France, England, even America during a certain thrust of ideas which industrialized Europe & embraced and extended from 1750 and onwards. What is there to imagine state this is patently untrue? From a thoughtful & socio-political perspective, the inhuman notions encapsulated by Enlightenment philosophers in France, Belgium, Dutch, Italy, & above all, England (to include the United States) reveals a stability based only on individual 'pleasure' at the cost of national self-tipulation (or even altruistic submergence). The idea of 'progress,' according to an evolutionary or adaptation sense, is no doubt true, however, 'progress' is not always reactionary, nor is it always conscious and purposeful.
Rather, the idea of progress is contingent upon the individuals reflecting upon themselves & looking to their own life means & attachments. The giant burst of European nationalism, conservative or otherwise, lacked depth & perspicacity of personal commitment, for if Frenchmen, Spanish, Czechs, or Russians felt disenfranchised by their government, then personal judgement was not at the heart of progress, collective movements did not adhere to any authentic individual world of values or being, & no chariots-of-fire on collectivism or group ideologies can substitute a real commitment to nascent cultures of belonging.
The framework of egalitarianism remains in many quarters today, with those from global warming & economic crisis alarmists singing the thousand virtues of being meek & silent in the face of global civilization. Believing in the "good fruit of compromise" perspective does nothing for future generations of real thought, since the expectation of a sense of plastic balance in expecting an amicable mankind is a false precision designed by soft-collared champions of consensual thinking. If in lieu of egalitarianism it is & drives a sort of 'achievement-binary’ wherein the entrepreneur-minded & crass-aristocrats of wealth mixed freely without discrimination & the have-nots denounced indiscriminately serve as commonplace to herd. The implication of this masquerade of humanism & depoliticized desperation leads to no palpable progress whatsoever, rather stagnation & plain malcontent ultimately ensue.
Egalitarianism is fundamentally false-hearted, as it hedges bets but without a real economic & social development, argues for opinions, not values & lacks any true critical relevance. What unites the herd is the lowest form of modern philosophy: egalitarianism. While it exacts a toll on the individual & communal, also it enables further apathy & quietude in the age of cyber-escapism, purposelessness, and post-modern-revision. Without honest dialogues between wrongdoers targets, & detractors of both-modes, without participation & praxeology, progress will never be truly attained—this progress not necessarily of the collective sort, but of these internally granted motivators of conscientious improvement. Those who pretend pacifism & acceptance in the face of real evidence otherwise, aim in the deep dark of societal preference, having opened a door with a loaded gun.
Rather, a reconsideration of authentic individuals world with reasonable expectations of attainment can substitute & embolden our peace efforts & finite negotiations. Unfortunately, nothing is worse than a nation divided on morality policies, self-interests, & material demands. of country must be intemperate & sustained by rational necessities not false promises & utopian incentives. Humanity depends on these premises & adopt new angles to synthesize our future global destiny; to move past wilted sovereignties & indifferent apathy without leaving us wanting for the solid veneer of impartial analysis must assume. From this understanding, and the appreciation of the fact that peace is a delicate affair, with unseen costs which damage future — moral, intellectual, material — nation-hoods, can the real progress of European-Civilization assume.
