I've been replaying Simcity 4 recently and I've been thinking back on Maxis, what they got right, and what future companies trying to emulate them got wrong. A big part of it, in my estimation, is tone -- Maxis is what in my mind I call silly, but not goofy. This silly tone formed organically due to the tremendous passion they had for their games. I could probably watch some old videos of Will Wright talking and fire off some half-baked ideas in 30 minutes but I want to work on this one for a while. (ETA: Never)

How ambitious are the elites?


When I think of the elites I think of the men in power whom, at one point, solicited Epstein’s island to have sex with hawt teen girls and snort cocain. Even if this licentious pass time is not the ubiquitous person experience of all those who qualify to be dubbed elites, I think my point was lucidly conveyed: The elites live in luxury and opulence. They live at the top of society and yield what ever power is afforded to them by the explicitly anti-corruption(yet still fairly corrupt) democracies. Now, as stated indirectly before, there are some restrictions within this type of society that they need to sneak around(ergo why Epstein’s island was necessary), but for the most part they live the lives of demigods. They are status and wealth maxxed. They have essentially won—whatever you consider winning in life. Given this nature, without the same exigency that galvanized the average man to seek power, do they still hold, now petty to them, ambition and dreams?

I’ve always wondered this, does great wealth and luxury somehow dull you? A lot of my strongest presentiments and bewitching notions were bred from the harsh condition of  conflict and necessity. So it is only natural, I would suspect, that without these harsh conditions my development would have been stunted. Now, I will admit that this type of thinking is essentially a meme, literally:

Without the professional standard that jobs put on employees, even if we had luxury fully-automated space communism, everyone would descend into barbarism(their natural states). The professional world represents that last bastion of refinement after the relentless cultural Marxist revolution that has stopped at nothing to bring man back to the state of animal. There is this perverse view that the retardation the normal person shows is actually a reaction to the stultifying environment of jobs, like they are making up for the time and freedom they lost to working, but it’s obvious these people would act like retards regardless.

For over three or four decades, President Donald J. Trump had been the celebrated face of corporate America. Same with Il Duce Berlusconi in Italy. Neither of them were refined. The break down of the docile dependency social structure that jobs create would actually return us to this type of barbarism. Groups of men going around killing as power now rests in the group.

Honestly I don’t think you would have had any problem with what I was saying if you just took your head out of bap’s ass for a second. The topic I was discussing was leftists hatred of standards, and how jobs represent the last set of standards. I was not discussing the right-wing hatred of jobs, which covers a totally different group of people.
